Changemaker Program
A flexible leadership program with mentorship, national recognition and an option for school credit
Choose your own hours. Work independently or with other youth. Shape your experience around your interests, skills and passions. The Changemaker Program is designed to be fun, meaningful and manageable while helping you gain real-world experience and create positive impact in your community.
✅ Open to youth across Canada ages 12 to 30
✅ Gain volunteer experience with two charities (A Million Acts of Love + GLOCAL)
✅ Use your interests, skills and passions to make an impact
✅ Access to workshops and coaching through GLOCAL
✅ Build a portfolio you can use for scholarships, university applications and employment
✅ Priority consideration for microgrants through A Million Acts of Love and GLOCAL
✅ Access to GLOCAL's internships and job opportunities
✅ Receive an official National Youth Service certificate from the Government of Canada
Time Commitment
Participants complete 100 hours at their own pace, plus approximately 20 hours of orientation, workshops and check ins spread over the program. Most participants complete the program by working on projects they already care about, rather than adding extra work.
School Credit
High school students in participating schools may also use completion of the Changemaker Program to earn Grade 12 credit, subject to school approval.
